AI Share of Voice AI Share of Voice

Your brand's citation count divided by the total citation count of the relevant comparator set — a relative measure of how loudly AI is mentioning you vs. competitors.

In depth

Where citation rate is your absolute presence, share of voice is your competitive standing. It's the AI-era equivalent of media share of voice: pick a comparator set (3–10 brands), run a representative prompt set, count citations per brand across engines, and divide. The output is a percentage you can track and benchmark. Models converge over time on a stable comparator set; getting into that set is itself a win.

Why it matters

Boards and CMOs ask 'how are we doing vs. competitors'. AI share of voice answers that question with a defensible number.

Example

An executive education program tracks share of voice against five named peer schools across 'best executive program for X' prompts. Going from 8% to 22% of citations correlates with a measurable lift in inbound application traffic.
