AI Presence AI Presence

A brand's overall ability to be discovered, understood, cited and recommended by AI systems — the umbrella outcome that GEO, AEO and LLMO collectively serve.

In depth

AI presence is the strategic frame, not a tactic. It treats the model layer (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Mode) as a discovery and recommendation surface alongside Google, social and email. A brand has strong AI presence when models reliably name it in relevant prompts, describe it accurately, link to authoritative sources for it, and recommend it in comparisons. Weak AI presence shows up as missing, misnamed, or replaced by a competitor.

Why it matters

The number of buyer journeys that touch an AI assistant is rising fast. AI presence is the upstream metric that decides whether your brand is in those journeys at all.

A private healthcare group sets a quarterly AI Presence target: appear in at least 60% of patient-shaped prompts about its specialties across the five major engines, with accurate specialty data and at least one external source per mention.
